Managing Director

Workdays: 5.5 days/week
Working Hours: 9 am to 6 pm (Monday to Friday) and 9 am to 1 pm (Saturday)

Due to the global nature of the role, working hours will vary to accommodate meetings with partners and clients across multiple time zones, including North America and Asia-Pacific. A baseline schedule is Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM, with flexibility for early morning or evening calls and weekend events as needed.

Summary:

As the Managing Director of the Company, you will lead a consultancy that supports Canadian and international universities, non-profits, and public sector entities in expanding their presence and partnerships across Asia. The role is rooted in stakeholder engagement, strategic growth, and cross-cultural relationship building — leveraging deep expertise in international education and advancement.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Define and implement the company’s strategic vision for supporting international institutions with engagement, alumni relations, and partnership development in Asia.
2. Develop and deliver tailored strategies to help clients enter or expand in the Singapore and broader Asia-Pacific education and public service markets.
3. Build and maintain high-trust relationships with a wide range of stakeholders, including universities, government agencies, NGOs, schools, corporate partners, and alumni networks.
4. Lead the design and delivery of workshops, consulting engagements, and bespoke initiatives focused on global education, fundraising, and innovation.
5. Represent Global Rapport at industry events, conferences, and in dialogues with institutional partners and media.
6. Oversee marketing, communications, and brand development efforts to establish thought leadership and credibility in the region.
7. Ensure operational compliance and growth, aligning with Singaporean regulations and best practices in consultancy service delivery.
8. Recruit and manage a small core team or freelance partners, scaling capacity as the business grows.

Qualifications & Experience:

1. Bachelor's degree in Education, Public Policy, Business, International Relations, or a related field. Master’s preferred.
2. 15+ years of experience in international education, external relations, alumni engagement, or nonprofit leadership, with a strong Asia focus.
3. Demonstrated success in cross-border project management, stakeholder relations, and regional partnership development.
4. Deep understanding of the higher education ecosystem in Canada, the U.S., and Asia — including market entry strategies and institutional collaboration models.
5. Proven ability to lead small, agile teams and manage high-level partnerships across sectors and cultures.
6. Exceptional communication skills with experience speaking or presenting in professional settings.
7. Strong professional networks in Singapore and Asia’s education, nonprofit, and international development sectors.

Preferred Qualifications:

1. Experience working with local governments, trade commissions, or diplomatic missions on education-related initiatives.
2. Familiarity with alumni platforms (e.g., Graduway), CRMs (e.g., Blackbaud, Salesforce), and other digital engagement tools.
3. Ability to translate global best practices into culturally relevant strategies for diverse partners across Asia.
4. A passion for capacity building, equity in education, and strengthening institutional impact globally.
