The Psychological Counsellor (Jan 2026) is responsible for providing a range of counselling and guidance services to students from the age of 5 to 18. They will work closely with students, parents, teachers, and other school staff to address academic, personal and social issues. They will also be responsible for helping students develop the skills and coping mechanisms needed to thrive academically and personally.

Job Responsibilities:
- Safeguarding Lead: The counsellor will use their professional expertise to act as a safeguarding lead and make/advise on critical decisions regarding psychologically themed cases that arise. This includes providing mental health and behavioral counselling to students and submitting referrals to outside agencies as necessary for students' well-being.
- Crisis Intervention: The counsellor will intervene in cases of suicide ideation, self-harm, and abuse (physical, psychological). They will engage in counselling to make a professional judgement about the safety of the child. They will create a safety plan. They will liaise with all stakeholders including parents, externals (if applicable), teachers, children). They will monitor the implementation of such safety plan and adapt.
- Crisis prevention: The counsellor will work with various stakeholders (e.g., academic management, non-academic operations, families) to use data to identify where psychological crises may occur and collaborate to formulate mitigating actions to avoid such crises.
Qualifications:
- At least a Bachelor’s Degree in Counselling
- Knowledge of multiple counselling approaches and best practice
- More than 3 years of experience working as a counsellor with children and youths
- Prior work experience liaising with local social service agencies (e.g. REACH) to assist with student counselling matters
- An ability to work effectively in a team and collaborate with other school professionals
- Provide counselling advice for English and Mandarin speaking students. Proficiency in English and Mandarin is a must.
