Weekend Literacy Educator (Ages 4–7) | Early Years Reading & Writing | Up to $50/hour

We are looking for passionate educators to join our Weekend Literacy Enrichment Team. You will be trained and certified to deliver a structured reading and writing programme to children aged 4 to 7.

Classes are conducted in-person on weekends (Saturdays and Sundays).

Teaching assignments may be held at our Pasir Ris, Toa Payoh or Paya Lebar centres, depending on enrolment and slot availability.

Flexibility to rotate locations across different days is required.

This is an ideal opportunity for educators who enjoy interactive teaching, have a flair for storytelling, and are looking for freelance weekend teaching roles.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct reading and writing classes for children aged 4–7 using a structured curriculum.
• Bring lessons to life using storytelling, dramatization, and creative techniques.
• Track student progress and provide feedback to parents.
• Prepare materials and teaching aids aligned with the programme framework.
• Uphold positive classroom management and ensure student engagement.
• (Optional) Teach Primary-level English if certified after additional training.

Training & Certification

Shortlisted candidates will undergo the following HQ-led training (fully sponsored):

• Literacy Programme Training (Reading & Writing Framework)
• Educator Training Programme
• Pre-entry assessments: Written task and video demonstration

A teaching bond of 80 lessons applies upon training completion. A $5,000 bond fee applies for early resignation before fulfilling the minimum teaching commitment.

Working Hours & Schedule

• Work Days: Saturday and Sunday only
• Class Duration: 2 hours per class
• Typical Class Slots:
  9:00 AM – 11:00 AM
  11:30 AM – 1:30 PM

Compensation

• Hourly Rate: $50/hour (certified trainers)
• Each Class Pays: $100 (2-hour class)
• Class assignments are based on actual enrolment and may vary by term.
• Trainers certified for Primary-level English may be eligible for additional classes.

Requirements

• Diploma in Early Childhood Education, Educational Studies, Speech & Drama, or relevant field
• Minimum 1 year of classroom teaching experience with children aged 3 to 7
• Strong spoken English with expressive delivery
• Reliable, professional, and committed to weekend work
• Able to complete training and fulfil the 80-lesson bond

Additional Assessment (Video Demonstration)

Shortlisted candidates must submit a 15–20 minute demo video of themselves reading a storybook suitable for 4–7-year-olds.
You are encouraged to include storytelling techniques such as puppetry or dramatization, and optionally, propose a follow-up activity or song.

Note: This is a freelance role with variable teaching hours, dependent on enrolment.
