Weekend Literacy Educator (Freelance, $50/hr)

We’re looking for passionate educators to join our Weekend Literacy Enrichment Team. This freelance teaching role is ideal for those who love storytelling, enjoy working with children aged 4–7, and are available on weekends. You’ll be trained and certified to deliver a structured reading and writing curriculum — no prior experience with the programme is required.

What You’ll Do

• Conduct 2-hour literacy classes (reading + writing) for children aged 4–7
• Use storytelling, dramatization, and creative techniques to bring lessons alive
• Guide students through structured lesson plans (training provided)
• Provide feedback to parents and support student progress
• Prepare teaching aids and materials as needed
• (Optional) Eligible candidates may also be trained to teach Primary-level English

Training & Teaching Commitment

• 2 pre-entry assessments: Writing task + storytelling video demo
• HQ-led training: Literacy curriculum + educator methodology (sponsored)
• 80-lesson bond: Required post-training (early resignation incurs $5,000 penalty)
• Note: Training is unpaid; teaching assignments begin after certification

Class Schedule & Locations

• Work Days: Saturday & Sunday only
• Class Slots:
  9:00am – 11:00am
  11:30am – 1:30pm
• Centre Locations: Pasir Ris, Toa Payoh, or Paya Lebar (KINEX)
• Flexibility to rotate locations depending on enrolment

Pay Structure

• $50/hour for certified trainers
• $100 per class (2 hours)
• Number of classes depends on enrolment and term schedule
• Primary-level trainers may qualify for additional assignments

You Should Have

• Diploma in Early Childhood, Educational Studies, or Speech & Drama
• At least 1 year of classroom teaching experience with children aged 3–7
• Strong spoken English with expressive, clear delivery
• Professional reliability — must be committed to weekend work
• Willingness to complete training and serve the 80-lesson bond

Video Demo Requirement

Shortlisted applicants must submit a 15–20 min storytelling video (reading a picture book for ages 4–7). You’re encouraged to use expressive techniques — puppetry, dramatization, or follow-up songs/activities are welcome.
